Assistant Researcher
Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering
University of Wisconsin- Madison

Hello! Welcome to my home-page.

I am an assistant researcher with the Mid America Freight Coalition at University of Wisconsin, Madison working primarily with Dr. Soyoung Ahn.

My research interests lie primarily in the fields of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and Traffic Flow Theory. My current research focuses on understanding traffic dynamics under mixed traffic (CAVs and human-driven vehicles) conditions, and designing CAV control to stabilize speed oscillations created in traffic due to external disturbances such as lane-changing. I am also interested in other related fields such as freight transportation, network traffic modeling, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic operations and control, and data mining techniques in transportation.

I finished my doctoral studies in 2016 at University of California, Irvine where my Ph.D. advisor was Dr. Wen-Long Jin. My Ph.D. dissertation research was focused on developing a macroscopic traffic model for capacity at freeway bottlenecks that combined the impacts of bounded vehicle acceleration with impacts of lane-changing.

I graduated with a Master of Science degree from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. For my Master's thesis, I investigated freeway bottleneck features and developed a new co-ordinated freeway ramp metering strategy (advisor: Dr. Nikolas Geroliminis).

I did my undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in Civil Engineering.

Besides transportation engineering, I have an active interest in various Computer Science topics such as Algorithms, and Data Mining. Before starting my MS, I worked as an applications engineer for Oracle India Pvt. Ltd. for approximately 3 years.
